General Camping TIps
  • Check your gear before you pack it.
  • If you have a brand new tent, set it up before you bring it camping.
  • Always dry out your gear before you put it away.
  • Store you gear in the same place so you can find it again.

  • Layering with different type clothes will keep you warm.
  • In the fall & winter, keep a pair of gloves and stocking cap in your camping gear.
  • Wearing a stocking cap when you go to bed will keep you warm, 90% of your heat escapes through your head.
  • Always go to bed wearing clean clothes. Even though your clothes you wore all day appears clean, they will be damp with perspiration and make you cold at night.

  • Be responsible for your gear and the troop gear—it will last longer.
  • Put your name in everything!
  • No electronics allowed… your scout leader has a cell phone if something comes up.
